Native to Southern Africa, this is a popular plant used particularly by bonsai enthusiasts as a miniature pine tree. The plant is erect or spreads shrubless to 1 m, has woody stems with brown bark, with crossed pairs of leaves. Leaves are green to dark green in color. It is hardy and drought-tolerant.
